Julie Kundert – Founder – Director

Julie is a Yoga Instructor with a 500 Hour Yoga Alliance Teachers Certification, a Lulu Lemon Ambassador, and  an official public speaker for the Valley Cares Family Justice Center.

Julie Kundert: “We are not our experiences; we are the person we choose to be from the outcome of our experiences.”

” It is during the darkest of times that we have the opportunity to recognize the brightest part of ourselves.”

Julie Kundert was born and raised in Santa Clarita, California. A mother of four children, Julie was happily married for 15 years. Her life changed when her husband took his own life. She later met whom she thought was going to be her new knight in shining armor, only to find out that the man she was about to marry was a textbook domestic violence abuser with a history of abuse. Like most victims of domestic violence she pretended everything was wonderful to the outside world. She feared for her safety and more importantly for her children’s safety. After six long years it finally ended. Unfortunately, it came with a price. That day Julie was held captive in our home, raped twice, beaten, and threatened for a period of nearly 10 hours. After 2 years of hiding and

waiting for trail, he was finally sentenced and convicted to 24 years in prison. The Valley Cares Trauma Center  was there for Julie through the entire process from arrest to sentencing. Inspired by their work she decided to become a trained advocate and public speaker for the Valley CARES Trauma Center.

“I decided to tell my story and show my healing process through THE AHIMSA FESTIVAL LA, to join people together to shift the awareness from domestic violence to domestic peace. And, I founded the Ahimsa festival Los Angeles to raise money for The Valley CARES Trauma Center, as they have saved my life, and are continuously doing so with others in need. Their organization includes trained professionals who dedicated their life to helping others with all the resources from the medical, physical, emotional, financial, safety and legal needs of the men, women and children that are in need.”
